Stripe Radar pricing changes in January 2027: what merchants should check
Stripe announced four Radar tiers: Lite, Standard, Plus and Pro. Radar Lite stays included on standard pricing. Check your Dashboard for the plan and fees that apply to you.

What changes and when
According to Stripe, users who had Radar with standard pricing were moved to a free trial of Radar Standard. When the trial ends on 22 January 2027, those accounts continue on Radar Standard and are charged per screened transaction, unless they choose another plan. Stripe also says Radar now screens more payment methods than cards.
Features such as custom rules, risk scores from 0 to 99, manual reviews and Adaptive 3-D Secure are listed on the Plus and Pro tiers, not on Lite or Standard.
What to review before 22 January 2027
- Open the Radar settings in your Stripe Dashboard and confirm your current plan and trial end date.
- Estimate monthly screened transactions, including subscriptions and connected accounts if you are a platform.
- List the features you really use, such as custom rules or manual review, and match them to a tier.
- Decide whether Radar Lite covers your needs or whether you need a paid tier.
- Review rules written for cards, because they may now evaluate other payment methods too.

Where RiskCogs can fit
RiskCogs is a separate risk scoring layer that runs next to your existing payment provider. It returns a score with readable reason codes and lets you write your own rules. You can run it free in shadow mode on the Shadow plan to compare its decisions with your current setup before deciding on any plan change. Paid plans start at €49 a month (Starter) and €299 a month (Growth).
RiskCogs does not replace your payment provider, and the right Radar tier depends on your own volume and needs.

When does the new Stripe Radar pricing start?
Stripe notices to affected users say the free Radar Standard trial ends on 22 January 2027, after which charges per screened transaction begin unless you switch plans. Whether this applies to you depends on your account and pricing, so check the Radar settings in your Stripe Dashboard and the Stripe support article on the change.
Is Stripe Radar still free?
Stripe lists Radar Lite as included at no additional charge for businesses on standard payments pricing. Lite covers AI fraud prevention for card payments, card testing protection and fraud alerts. The Standard, Plus and Pro tiers are paid, either as a monthly plan or pay as you go, with prices that depend on country and business type.
How do I switch to Radar Lite?
Stripe says you can change the plan from the Radar settings in the Dashboard. Before you switch, check whether you rely on features listed only on paid tiers, such as custom rules, manual reviews or risk scores, because those are not part of Lite according to the Stripe pricing page.
